Howland Bridge-Howland, Maine/Turner Bridge-Turner, Maine/Martins Point Bridge-Falmouth and Portland, Maine - These projects for the Maine DOT required subsurface explorations and development of a laboratory sampling plan to allow engineers to design replacement bridges along new alignments. Field work required drilling along current and proposed alignments, as well as through the existing bridge and into river bottom sediments. Drilling for the Howland Bridge took place during winter months, so work was completed on the river ice surface. Work for the Martins Point Bridge was completed on barges and on land.
